Transformer Protection Cabinet

Transformer Protection Cabinet, manufactured by the "SVEL" Group, is designed to implement the main and backup protection of double- or triple-winding transformers with OLTC, as well as automatic on-load voltage regulation of (auto)transformers.

Main functions of the cabinet:

  • Maximum current protection: provides relay protection of the network against short circuits, accompanied by an increase in current strength in the event of a fault.
  • Gas protection: prevents the explosion of the transformer tank in case of damage to live parts and subsequent overheating.
  • Current cutoff: operates to disconnect in case of short circuits in a specific section of the circuit.
  • Busbar protection: disconnects a line section during emergencies, particularly in case of a short circuit.
  • Negative phase-sequence protection: is applied to protect the generator against reverse sequence currents occurring in the presence of unbalanced loads.
  • Open-phase protection: protects mechanisms connected to the network, such as electric motors, from phase loss in the circuit.
  • Undervoltage protection: provides protection for connected equipment during short-term voltage dips.
  • Transformer technological protections: a standard set of protections, including monitoring the oil level in the tank, the temperature of the upper oil layers and transformer windings, monitoring the cooling system, and providing data on its operability.

Automation functions of the cabinet:

  • SF₆ gas pressure monitoring.
  • Voltage circuit monitoring.
  • Synchronization monitoring.
  • Switch control.
  • Automatic reclosure and reserve entry.
  • Monitoring the condition of switch and voltage regulator drives.

Cabinet assembly includes:

  • Metal case with one or two doors (single-sided or double-sided access).
  • Installed equipment, including relay protection, automation, control, and signaling devices.
  • Cable entries and connections for connecting external circuits.
  • Keys for doors (1 pc per cabinet).
  • Set of spare parts and accessories, including lamps, indicators, etc. (quantity specified in the cabinet's passport).
  • Set of operating documentation.
