Surge protection devices (SPD) of the LVA
Surge protection devices (SPD) of the LVA type are designed to protect consumers, equipment, and line insulation of networks with voltages up to 1 kV from overvoltages. They consist of a specially designed nonlinear surge arrester (OPN) and adapters for connection to overhead line (OL) and insulated overhead line (IOL) conductors on one side and to grounding leads of supports on the other side.
The devices are manufactured according to technical specifications TU 3449-001-52819896-2015 and are available in three models: LVA-260-1, LVA-450-1, and LVA-660-1. Each model is intended for operation in networks with nominal voltages of 0.22 kV, 0.4 kV, and 0.66 kV, respectively. They provide a nominal discharge current of 10 kA and a maximum discharge current of 40 kA. The residual voltage at lightning current impulses of 8/20 µs with an amplitude of 10,000 A is 1.2 kV for LVA-260-1, 1.8 kV for LVA-450-1, and 3.0 kV for LVA-660-1.
These devices are designed to effectively protect low-voltage electrical networks from overvoltages, ensuring reliable equipment operation and consumer safety.
