Impulse recorders and indicators

The Impulse Counter-Recorder IR-K2

The Impulse Counter-Recorder IR-K2 is designed to monitor the condition of surge arresters (SA) in alternating current networks with a frequency of 50 Hz and voltage classes ranging from 35 to 500 kV. The device records the number of operations of the SA during lightning and switching overvoltages, enabling assessment of their performance during operation.

Technical Specifications:

  • Network voltage class: 35–500 kV
  • Nominal discharge current of SA: 10 A
  • Amplitude of lightning impulse current 8/20 µs: 10 kA
  • Minimum operating current for lightning impulse 8/20 µs: 120 A
  • Maximum withstand value of rectangular impulse current 2000 µs: 1000 A
  • Maximum withstand value of rectangular current 4/10 µs: 100 kA
  • Range of recorded operations: from 0001 to 9999
  • Weight: 1.7 kg

Operating Conditions:

  • Climatic design: moderate and cold climates
  • Industrial atmosphere: category II according to GOST 15150
  • Pollution degree: IV according to GOST 9920
  • Temperature range: from -60 °C to +45 °C
  • Installation height: not exceeding 1000 m above sea level

Operating Principle:

The counter-recorder detects the number of current impulses passing through the SA, allowing monitoring of the number of operations during overvoltages. This facilitates timely detection of potential malfunctions and the need for SA replacement.
